Laura asks…
How’s my pace in community college?(fast, slow, medium)?
First year : Just ESL( english as second language) + pre-calculus
Second year:1st semester: Bio 93,Calculus 1, chem 1A,ESL
2nd semester:Chem1B+lab,Calculus 2, Ballroom Dance,Basic Music,ESL
Summer semester: physiological psychology,bio94 + lab
3rd year: Haven’t got yet!
I wanna transfer to a biology major? Any suggestions?
Customer Service answers:
It seems you’re going in a fast pace by taking a summer semester.
Are you just picking course on your own or are you following the college’s guidelines in completing a degree there?
Best bet is to follow college’s guidelines in completing a degree there and then transferring to a university. If you just transfer without getting a degree there, you risk the chance of not all of your credits would be counted for a Bachelor’s degree. If you get an Associate’s degree at that college, the university you transfer to has to accept all the credits you have earned and put it towards your Bachelor’s degree plan.

Mandy asks…
Need advice for prom dance!! Please help?
OK heres the deal. Im a guy and im going to my senior prom in like 5 days. As of now i dont have a date, so lets just pretend thats how it’ll be. You people shoudl know im really selfconcious.
I need advice on basic how-to-dance stuff, both for ballroom dancing and hiphop dancing (like grinding).
If youre just gonna say something stupid/pointless you might as well not say it at all.
Customer Service answers:
Just move your feet to the beat.
When you’re grinding with her, get really close
and put your hands on her hips. She will most
likely lead the way since she’ll be grinding with you
so just dance to her rhythm.
Good luck budddy. Cheers.

Jenny asks…
dancing help?
I have never danced before in my life and there are no places I can learn near my house. I am gonna go dancing with my date and I have no idea how. I dont want to look like an idiot on the dance floor so does anyone know of a website I could get basic moves for dances? Ballroom dance if you could thank you in advance.
Customer Service answers:
The quickest way to learn is by dancing with someone. Sure you can learn steps from a video but dancing is about ‘feel’. If you don’t get the right ‘feel’ in your movements then you’ve wasted your time.
The best thing to do is tell your date you haven’t danced before – truth is a great relationship builder. But also tell her that you are willing to learn and you’d be happy for her to show you some moves.
Maybe even before you go out to a club you can have a dance session with her at home. This is a great icebreaker; it will develop your relationship because you are valuing/appreciating her talents. A guy being okay with being in a vulnerable position (meaning: being a learner) is very attractive.
Hope this helps – And good luck!

About How To Ballroom Dance Tango – Faq

Daniel asks…
How do I find organizations in Dallas Texas that are for people who like to dance, Tango, Ballroom, etc.?
Customer Service answers:
Google search word: ballroom dancing dallas texas
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&safe=active&q=ballroom+dancing+dallas+texas

David asks…
what do you think is the most attractive dance to learn?
i ballroom dance, salsa, tango what not. i think they are attractive dances which is why i decided to learn them. im thinking of taking a belly dance at my college but first i have to see how i handle my classes. i think belly dancing would give me better posture.not only that give me a 6 pact even thou most belly dancers are chunky.
Customer Service answers:
Well, the most beautiful is ballet. Except for your feet. If you’re willing to have hideous feet for general bodily grace, I’d say ballet….

Sandy asks…
how do you dance the tango?
i’ve always wanted to learn ballroom dancing and my boy friend is taking me out dancing this weekend, but i have no idea how to do it! any quick tips on how to dance before i make a total fool of myself???
Customer Service answers:
The first thing to find out is whether he means ballroom tango or Argentine tango. They’re very different dances. Ballroom tango is a sequence/step-based dance – you learn set steps. Argentine tango is completely improvised and organic. If you want to learn ballroom tango, you’ll need a lot of lessons to be able to do anything at all. If you want to learn Argentine tango, it’s like Othello, a minute to learn, a lifetime to master. You can go to a (good) Argentine tango class and be dancing simply by the end of the lesson, because ultimately AT is just a walking hug. As a follower, you can even pick it up just by dancing with a good leader (though I really wouldn’t recommend this, much better to take some lessons *and* dance with good leaders!). You can then literally spend the rest of your life improving, if you choose! It’s a very special and very addictive dance.
To show you the difference, have a look at these clips:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDJM1gGW0zM – ballroom tango – the couple work with a set and very firm frame, are together at the hips and apart at the chest, and the movements are jerky and ‘dramatic’. They’re performing a sequence they’ve learnt earlier.
Http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9yE-DLYwe4 – Argentine tango – there’s no ‘frame’, instead there’s an ‘embrace’ which is soft and fluid, the couple are together at the chest (heart) and have space at the hips (in this clip they sometimes open the embrace a little, but we dance chest to chest most of the time), the movements are soft and natural. There’s no sequence – everything is improvised.
If your boyfriend is taking you out to do ballroom tango, I can’t give you any tips, I’m afraid! But (with few exceptions) people don’t go out to dance ballroom dances socially, ballroom is mostly a question of classes and competitions. So if he’s said he’s taking you out to do tango, he probably means Argentine tango, which *is* danced socially, at milongas, which are basically tango discos, where music is played and people dance with whoever they like. If that’s the case, here are my very basic tips for very basic Argentine tango (from the follower’s perspective):
Let him choose the distance of the embrace. He’ll start by offering his left hand, which you take with your right. He may then embrace you very closely, chest to chest, in which case you can put your left arm lightly around his neck, or wrap it lightly around his back, wherever’s comfortable for you. Try not to lean on him or put any weight on him, and try to keep your arms fairly soft. Give him your chest, but keep your hips with you. Or, he may take a more open embrace, where you’re 6″-12″ apart at the chest, in which case you can rest your left hand lightly on his upper arm, and just stand straight.
The lead comes from the chest. You are aiming to keep the relationship between your chests the same. So, if he moves his chest towards you, you step back. If he moves his chest away from you, you step forward. If he turns his chest to one side, you step around him with the aim of getting back to that position where you’re in front of his chest. But with a beginner he should have the sense to only walk forwards and backwards anyway. Another way of thinking about it is to imagine you each have a flashlight shining straight out from your chests; you want to try and stay in his beam, and to try to shine your own beam on him.
Guys often start off changing weight from foot to foot; if he does this, mirror him; he’s just checking to make sure you both start off on the same foot (his right and your left, or his left and your right). When you walk, whenever you finish taking a step, stay on the foot you stepped onto – never change feet unless he asks you to do so by changing his own weight (you will feel this in the chest, moving side to side – if he changes his feet but does’nt move his chest, he doesn’t want you to change feet. Ignore his feet – think only of what his chest is ask you to do.)
That may sound much more complicated than it is. Actually, it’s very natural and intuitive. I could show you in a minute if I were with you.
If it’s ballroom tango you want to learn, there are a lot of video lessons on YouTube – just search for ‘ballroom tango for beginners’.
The most important tip of all – just let yourself have fun, don’t worry about making a fool of yourself. No beginner can make a fool of themselves; noone expects a beginner to know what they’re doing! Just enjoy your body and his body and the music.
Good luck! Dancing is the best thing ever. Defintely go and learn – you’ll never regret it. Of course I recommend Argentine tango over ballroom tango, because that’s my dance! But different people like different things, so you just need to find the dance which is for you.

About About Ballroom Dancing In California – Faq

Chris asks…
Can I get into UCLA or UC Berkeley?
I am currently a senior applying to colleges….
my unweighted GPA is: 3.86
my weighted UC calculated GPA is: 4.08
My SAT I without studying or taking courses was a 1750 (I am retaking it and have taken the ACT and Subject tests as well, but I’m waiting for the results)
I have been doing competitive ballroom dancing for 12 years
I was in Poetry Club for 3 years (president), Truth Movement Club, Fashion Club, and Christian Club, Mock Trial my freshman year, and TV Production Club
I have over 100 hours of community service
I have recently started taking Yoga classes
I have worked as a provider for my grandmother for about a year
I have tied for first place in the state competition of Poetry Out Loud and am going to compete again.
I have gone lobbying in Sacramento with my high school principle
regarding the budget cuts in schools (spoken directly to legislatures asemblymen and state senators).
I have been nominated for an ROP award in Cinematography
and I am in the California Scholarship Foundation
I hadn’t even considered applying to these schools before because I was determined I wouldn’t get in, but now I’m beginning to reconsider and give it a shot. I don’t know if my extracurricular activities are enough and I know my GPA and SAT’s are pretty low, but I’m determined to do better on the next one.
I have also been published in local newspapers.
Customer Service answers:
UC admission evaluation is based on a variety of factors. All UCs favor factors such as the rigor of your HS curriculum (number of UC-approved honors/AP/IB/CC courses completed), excellent weighted and unweighted GPA, and demonstrated leadership abilities. You are also compared to your peers, meaning your academic and extracurricular achievements are viewed in context of students in your HS who applied to the UCs this year and up to 3 years prior. Given the number of factors considered and the complex data involved, it is essentially impossible for anyone to accurately predict your chance.
Berkeley is general achievement oriented (academic or extracurricular), meaning admissions is willing to overlook bad grades/test scores when excellent extracurriculars and/or horrible hardships are in the equation. Berkeley is especially interested in students who will take advantage of what Berkeley has to offer and become the engine of social change.
UCLA is fairly academic achievement oriented, meaning fantastic grades and stellar test scores are essential to be competitive. Students who demonstrate ability to achieve extraordinary extracurriculars and/or overcoming horrible hardships while maintaining excellent academic achievement are favored. However, UCLA rarely overlooks bad grades/test scores even if extraordinary extracurriculars and/or horrible hardships are in the equation.

Jenny asks…
What do you think about my poem…yes poor grammar I know please don’t make fun?
Boredom kills, and i’ll sit still in the moonlight shining as the stars are bright and my tears glisten in the night in the dirt i’ll sit wanting so bad to quit,so i’ll slow down my breatheing and break through the wind of 2 AM,and through the hurt my emptiness the found creatures will condemn, lonley is a lonley word and as a lonley girl I long to be a bird as I might fly away and leave the small town roads for a future day,in the sun we can stay, under california clouds because i’m that girl who cries too much and laughs too loud,or that yellow leaf on the autum day in the sunshine under a town made of clay and the cities made of stone with no place to call home time stands still and we wait all alone in the cold winter snow wondering why,as this stranger awaits another day goes by with a ring on her finger she can stand by you’re door and linger but no one can see her nor even believe her that there was a man standing in the center of the ballroom waiting to dance as she puts down her dustpan and broom an invisible soul once came to know of the long winding hallways that twist through the heart of the museum of the sinisters art as this is the end and you’ve heard the start still sitting in the dirt in the cold morning chills and i’ll never forget that boredom kills.
Customer Service answers:
It is actually a very lovely poem. Some of your spelling and grammar are incorrect, and it needs some punctuation, yes, but the words and the thoughts they portray are quite beautiful.

Sweet 16 Summer Help!?
I was originally planning to combine my Sweet 16 with one of my friends over the summer so we could afford to have a big dance party and rent out a place. But lately it is not looking like that will happen. I want to have a memorable sweet 16. I have always like, wanted to do a big huge party where I rented some beautiful ballroom and had a huge dance party. But with me just doing it by myself it is way out of the budget. Any idea? It would be a boy girl party. I live in southern california. My birthday is in August. Thanks for all the help.
And I know this isn’t the right category for it I just thought people that knew about fashion might know some party ideas to.
Customer Service answers:
Idea 1:Do it in your backyard. Set up some tents put us some decorations and set a DJ booth.
Idea 2: If u can’t have it in ur backyard find a place to host it. Do ur own decorations and bring ur own food. U can save allot dat way.

Betty asks…
Whats important in getting into an ivy university, and where do I stand?
I am a junior in high school. I am interested in ivy school…but I know my chances are either slim r nonexistent… I have all honors classes except one(they don’t offer it in honors curriculum) and i have AP chemistry, language and composition and united states history (3 AP classes) Took one last year and passed with a 5.
Have some community service hours but will start volunteering again in about 2 weeks. I joined the school magazine production, MODEL UN, i take piano and ballroom dancing classes.I still have no taken SAT or ACT—so that is a big thing I have to focus on. I feel like I am so burdened, my schedule is so packed and my parents are forcing me to drop AP chemistry, I was wondering if dropping this class would affect my college standing greatly…I don’t know what else I should do whats really important in college admissions, I also plan to take a job senior year, so I’m hoping that will make my extracurricular list longer (because i don’t have many things)…
Customer Service answers:
Ivy League schools–especially Princeton, Harvard, and Yale are difficult to get into, but not impossible. All are very expensive, with tuition being around 30,000 dollars a year. I’m not familiar with SAT scoring, but I would guess that an ACT score of around 28 or greater would be desirable. There are other Ivy League universities and colleges worth looking into: Cornell, Columbia, Dartmouth, Brown, and the University of Pennsylvania

I’ve been applying everywhere in our village for a job or internship…I’ve offered to three companies to work completely free so far. Here is my resume maybe you could make a few suggestions to change it? If you don’t see any problems or have any other ideas please feel free to give your insight.

About Ballroom Dancers – Faq

Betty asks…
Ballroom Dancers….?
To all you ballroom dancers out there, I need a dance for a performance, it has to be New Vogue, and it can’t be a competition dance like a Meryllin or Evening 3 step. Thankies =D
Please make it an UNCOMMON New Vogue dance.
Customer Service answers:
All New Vogue dances can be danced in competition, well, at least all the well known ones. The 15 main New Vogue dances that everyone would know are the 15 that are approved for competition. As far as dances go, I would suggest either a Carousel, Excelsior Schottische or Swing Waltz. Those are my favourites to dance and watch.

Lizzie asks…
Ballroom dancers?
i am looking for an instructor and since im 21…i would prefer a lady in her 20s…so i am kinda lookign for female whos around that age srry i dont want to dance with an old lady or a man lol even worse lol….not a old person is that wrong?!? i want to learn how to dance ballroom because i am in college and i know girls like guys who can dance…..and ballroom doesn’t seem that bad…i’d try it out….especially since girls like guys who can dance…..i’ve already tried hip hop …i wasn’t great at it…other ppl were good! and it was like a begineer class so i stopped…besides dancing with girls is hot lol i mean i dance with girls at clubs…and i get excited because what guy doesnt want to feel on a girl?!?
i guess its okay since its just 2 learn how to dance! i even called some instructors and this one lady sounded young and hot haha sorry is this bad?!? or wierd…
i mean its not like ill rape her hahah but its not like its any different than choosing a hot dance partner with dancing of the stars???
Customer Service answers:
Your question have digressed to irrelevant matters, but anyway…. It sounds like you know what to do. Just go to your local studio and find an instructor who’s looks you like. Make sure to not overlook whether or not she can dance at all. Here is the place to search for instructors:
http://www.accessdance.com
http://www.ballroomdancers.com
By the way, “sounds young” can be very deceptive, hahaha. Just like “sounds beautiful”. Have you ever heard a peackock sing? You just need to get off the couch and go there.

Ruth asks…
What do ballroom dancers use on their skin to make it glow?
The female dancers always have such perfectly polished skin, is there a secret? Thanks!
Customer Service answers:
Hairspray i know it sounds weird but dancers and models use it also baby oil
