About Ballroom Dance Dress Patterns – Faq

Mary asks…

Dress pattern style for ballroom dancing?

I am looking for a nice evening style dress pattern to sew with plenty of movement room in the bottom to go ballroom dancing in. I can find some beautiful slimline patterns, but these do not give enough room to move legs in to dance. Can someone please help me out.

Customer Service answers:

These are dresses http://www.designerclothesonline.co.uk/lister/Womens/Dresses/ that suits for Latin dances in Ballroom.

Sandy asks…

Where can I find a dress (that isn’t fancy) that spins when I dance?

I’m taking ballroom dance (all forms) and I want something simple that doesn’t have a pattern that is fun, fitting and flowing at the bottom. Any site that you can recommend? I like the style that J. Lo is wearing in “Shall We Dance” eek!

Paul asks…

I’m writing a fantasy series and want feedback?

I’ve been reading a lot of fantasy novels lately and I decided to write my own. I’m about a fourth of the way through, so I still have a ways to go. I’d love any advice, critique, etc. Here’s my excerpt:

It was a sizzling, moist evening in the city of Montreal during the summer of 1897. The horrid weather had not altered for almost a month and the townspeople were losing their minds from the heat. The occasionally cool breeze was so rare that when it did occur it lifted up the moods and energies of the hundreds of guests that were dancing away their lives night after night in this exciting city. And tonight was no exception for them; the place to be was Stewart Jameson’s mansion for the grandest bash that was to transpire in over a decade.
And to say it lived up to that estimation would be no understatement. The entire house was decorated in crimson ribbons of the most superb cloth wrapping in intricate patterns around the banisters and lanterns that held small, scented candles. White Casablanca lilies, ivory peonies, and watery-blue hydrangeas were in elaborate bouquets around the room sophisticating its scenery. The new chandelier that had been brought in that very morning had silver crystal hangings at the bottom and a golden base that shined vibrantly across the room. The floor was a vast open space filled with numerous couples enjoying their invitations wholeheartedly. Waiters were walking around nervously passing out different assortments of food, such as roast mutton, plum pudding, stewed rabbits, and a variety of fruits and cheeses. Chilled champagne and chardonnay were on constant circulation in the fine-looking room that overwhelmed even the richest of people.
In the middle of the infamous ballroom, that had seen far more wild nights than tonight, stood Cassandra Haydee. She wore an expensive dress from Doucette that was made of the finest ruby-colored silk faille and fell in small ruffles starting at her hips and flowing all the way to the floor. The bodice was heart-shaped and a corset was wrapped tightly around her chest and down her back. Her golden hair was pinned on top of her head with little curls falling on the side. Her normally light lashes were painted black and fluttering around flirtatiously in an attempt to catch the eyes of the most sought after bachelors. Her small lips looked much fuller with the dark red color they now wore that matched her stunning dress. Her round cheeks had a light pink flush that made her look even more like an angel than usual. Not once in her short life had she looked so put together and she had one man to thank for it.
Across the room from her stood a very handsome man dressed in black coattails and trousers. His face was strikingly beautiful, more beautiful than any average human anyone had ever laid eyes on. He was without a doubt gorgeous. He had a strange violet color around the pupil of his eyes in the shape of a ring, outside that a touch of yellow, and then a devastating shade of green circled around that. His hair was blond; a bronze-yellow blond that fell in perfect, yet manly ringlets around his ideal face. His lips were full and the lightest shade of pink that can be seen on a man anywhere. The bone structure in his face was unfathomably perfect. His nose was strong, defined, and just slightly hooked over.
He was watching Cassandra with a bemused expression on his face while drinking a glass of his favorite champagne in the entire province. The enormous and decadent room that surrounded him did not distract him from continuing his longing stares. He could practically read her lips at this point and wasn’t bothering to pay attention to his guests compliments and questions.
