About Ballroom Dance Dresses For Less – Faq

Susan asks…

what should i wear??? big dance off tomorrow!!!!?

i’ve been swing/ballroom dancing and usually i go dressy casual, but tomorrow it’s kind of a big night so here’s my dilemma
a) i only have one pair of high-heels that i’m absolutely 100% confident about dancing in – but i’ve worn them sooo many times before (i usually can get away with it when i wear longish jeans no-one sees the shoes) i mean they’re reaaaly cute but swing is a very fast dance and i hate it when my heels feel like they’re sliding off. i dont like flats coz they’re not as fun to dance in and i feel less coordinated

here’s what i think about wearing but allas another complication:
b) for some reason i’ve wound up with a lot of black in my closet. like the time before i wore a reaaly cute black shirt and the time beofre that dark wash skinny jeans. but i have this classy black dress i wanted to wear tomorrow, but i think maybe it’s too much black??? i also have this outfit with a cardigan and poofy skirt (very ’50s) and another light blue sweater and tropical matching skirt that i really ought to wear before it gets cold. sooooo…..i know this sounds dumb but i’m really nervous therefore undecisive…thanks :)

My girlfriend and I swing/ballroom dance often

the best kind of shoes to wear are either closed/pep toe heels or wedges. It really helps to have good secure heels. If you need to make them fit better put some tape where your toes sit. This will help you stop your foot from sliding around.

2. There’s nothing wrong with being the girl in black. They say every girl should wear a little black dress, nothing wrong with having matching shoes and bags. You can never have too much black. However the poofy skirt might be more fun to dance in cause swing is very fast, and it might give that bouncy look while dancing. Either way you can’t go wrong.

Sandy asks…

Cute dress for Valentines Day Party?

I’m 14 and me and my friends are renting out a hotel ballroom for a “Valentines Day Party” (you can laugh :D ). There’s going to be a DJ, so dancing is going to happen. I’m going with my boyfriend (obviously) and I want to look really nice but I don’t know what to wear! Guys are REQUIRED to wear a tux to get in and girls have to wear dresses. I guess the attire of a homecoming dance, but I wouldn’t know. I was thinking something silky? No yellows or oranges or cremes… I have brown hair and deep brown eyes I’m 5 1 and I weigh 123 pounds if that helps.

Do you have any stores/WEBSITES that are good for dresses?

I’d be a size one.

Also, what size of a heel or what type/color of shoe with it? No flats, I know that. and I know I’m short but I can’t walk in high high heels, much less dance!

I’m willing to spend $30-150 on it. A little about my knees and no sleeves of TOO fluffy or flowers…

Thanks so much!
and if you have any other advice on it I’d appreciate it :)
whoah!
I do not weigh 123 pounds
103* hah sorry
and pictures of dresses (from the websites) are best

Everything else is fine but the heels on your shoes should nor exceed more than 1 3/4 ” because you might cause injury o your partner if there is any lifting especially the lindy hop
