About Dancing Figurines – Faq

Maria asks…

Looking for Scottish Folk Dancing figurines, can you help?

My ma & da are avid folk dancers and love to get together with their friends for a good old shin dig :o )
So for part of my mums Christmas, along with a box set of Scottish CDs I was really hoping to get her a nice ornament of a couple dancing.
Most ornaments / figurines I see are all very elegant Spanish flamenco dancers or Russian ballerina’s which are all very pretty but look nothing like them dancing to strip the willow! Haha. A single highland dancer is a different thing all together so I’m really hoping that someone out there can point me towards a shop or manufacturer that would have something a bit more suitable – I’m just at a loss.
Normally I find anything on ebay or through google but not with this one, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
I’m not looking to spend much more than say £60, something nice but not over the top.
Thanks so much for any help you can give me.
Fiona. :o )

Customer Service answers:

Try contacting the Highlands Business Enterprise, they hold lists of businesses who may make or sell them.

I used to work for the English version and we held all of that information and gave it free of charge for one off queries.

What is the deal with the Dancing Sillohettes?

I saw it for a mortgage ad and and now it’s on facial cream ad. This dancing figurines of people jutting their navels all over the place with their hands in the air. You know, those dark sillohette people. What’s the deal with the marketing these days? Like now I really want to buy – since I saw the dancing freaks on the advertisement – right. One of them was a disgusting couple and a fat lady swinging it all over the ad. I thought it was quite gross and turned me off from clicking the ad. What’s really funny is that somebdy probably makes a decent living out of thinking up pathetic marketing ideas like this.

If I was in the market for new freak dance moves – maybe it would be relevant to the advertisement?
I’m all for hip and trendy – but I think this falls into the cheap and pathetic category.

Customer Service answers:

Hey – it’s hip – it’s trendy – don’t you want to be one of the coolest of the cool?

I kid my partner, who bought me an iPod, about the “ghost people” all the time. Have you noticed that they are not completely blacked out any more, that they have the occasional shirt or jewelry line showing? Maybe they got the hint that it was too creepy. :o )

Susan asks…

Where can I buy a dancing figurine for a music box?

I am fixing up an old music box that has long since lost a dancing couple that revolves whenever you open it up (kind like those ballerinas in the music boxes you see in magazines). Does anyone know where I can find something like it online?

Customer Service answers:

EBay, they generally have a good selection of anything you need/want
