- Is it okay to wear regular heels for ballroom dancing?
I'm in a beginning ball room dance class and I want to start getting used to wearing heels. But I don't want to drop almost 100 on a pair of dance shoes when I can find regular, comfortable heels for less than that. What difference does it make if I have regular heels or dance heels?
A If the heels do not scratch the floor and are not backless, then you are probably fine. Ask your teacher, he/she may not want any street shoes on the floor, in which case, you will have an issue. I dance with my university's ballroom club, and most of the women wear regular shoes. If you are just starting, you probably have nothing to worry about.
