Ballroom Dancing

- Ballroom dance shoes- what size heel is this (photo)?
This shoe comes in a 2.5 inch and 3 inch heel. What size heel do you suppose the photo is showing? http://www.danceshoesstore.com/product_info.php?cPath=3_10_38&products_id=141 They're calling 2.5 "low heel" -- I prefer high heels but I noticed my old ballroom shoes say they're 2.5" Opinions on what I should get?

A They look like they'd be the 3" heel, but it's hard to tell. Why don't you email them and ask which size is in the photo? Also, 2.5" isn't really what I'd call a "low heel", I'd probably call a shoe with a 2" heel a "low heel". Personally, I prefer the 3" heel on mine, I find that especially in latin it forces me onto my toes a bit more, but that's just my personal preference. It really comes down to what you're more comfortable dancing in. Also, don't forget that the heel size can be relative to your shoe size. Someone with a size 9 foot might think a 3" heel was really comfortable, which someone with a size 6 foot might have major issues, because their foot is smaller. If you have quite a small foot I'd probably recommend the 2.5" heel, but again, it really comes down to what's comfortable for you.

- Is there a ballroom dance shoe out there that offers extra support/lower heel without looking like a sneaker?
I've taken up ballroom dance but have bad joints (knees, ankles) and excess pronation so I was looking for a shoe with more than a teeny-thin strap but the only ones I find are the learner's shoes that look like sneakers. I must not be putting the right words in the search engines because I'm finding nothing suitable on-line so if you can point me to a good website, I'd appreciate it!
