Stephanie, in a delightful silver and aqua flapper costume, silver tap shoes, bowler hat and cane, was about to sing ''Five Feet Two, Eyes of Blue,'' as she danced to recorded music. ''Contestant number 603, Stephanie, 6 years old from New York,'' the announcer said. Stephanie started singing, but nobody could hear her. The music was drowning her out. ''The music is too loud,'' Mrs. Feehan said in a panicky voice. ''Lower the music,'' she said in the direction of the audio engineer. The loud music continued, with Stephanie valiantly dancing and singing away. ''Lower the music!'' shouted Mrs. Feehan, who was now standing as her voice thundered across the ballroom. The music was lowered. Mrs. Feehan does not consider herself a pushy mother. From Mother, With Love ''Some of these mothers,'' she said, ''they won't let their children play with other children, they're so bloodthirsty.'' She has seen mothers put fake hair on their daughter's heads, and put fake teeth in their mouths. Stephanie, she maintains, is all real. After the talent division, mother and daughter rushed up to their hotel room. Stephanie had to change into the pageant's T-shirt and shorts outfit with the beauty banner draped over the shoulder. It was time for the judging of the beauty division. In the room, they met up with their roommates for the weekend, Pamela Krantz and her 4-year-old daughter, Rebecca May Krantz, from Hampton Bays. Little Becky, who was getting dressed for her beauty interview, was aso getting her beauty pageant instructions. ''Don't put your fingers in your mouth and don't scratch yourself,'' her mother told her. After quick interviews with the judges, who besides checking teeth asked about pets and school, the children and their mothers raced back to the room to change the girls into party dresses for the gown competition. The day continued on with changing clothes and racing from one ballroom to another, for Stephanie, and hundreds of adorable children who in between were being reminded not to sit in their good clothes and to smile at the judges.

A None that I could see...closest I could find was when the mom's voice "thundered" but I'm not quite sure...maybe it's just a adverb or whatever.
